Sugar Nova is a dreamy indie-electronic duo from Denver, Colorado, blending lush synth textures, soulful vocals, and hypnotic grooves into a sound that feels both timeless and futuristic. The project brings together producer and multi-instrumentalist Luke Miller—best known for his work with jam-electronic powerhouse Lotus—and vocalist-songwriter Rachel Eisenstat, the creative force behind Raven Jane.
The pair first collaborated when Eisenstat lent her vocals to Lotus’s 2016 album Eat the Light, sparking an instant musical chemistry. Their creative partnership deepened on Miller’s 2021 solo release Disco Nap, where their shared love of disco, downtempo pop, and vintage synth sounds began to take shape. Eager to explore that chemistry further, they launched Sugar Nova as a dedicated outlet for their shimmering, groove-driven songwriting and shared production sensibility.
In May 2023, Sugar Nova released their debut album Halogen, a radiant nine-track collection that showcases their deft blend of electronic production and live instrumentation. Songs like “Send Me Higher” and “Gospel Hour (2 AM)” pair Eisenstat’s soaring, emotive vocals with Miller’s sleek, danceable beats, while “Tiny Helicopters” and their cover of My Morning Jacket’s “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream, Pt. 2” highlight the duo’s knack for balancing introspection with euphoria. The result is an album that moves seamlessly between pop, chillwave, and dream-electronic territory—music meant as much for dancing as for daydreaming.
On stage, Sugar Nova brings their glossy studio sound to life with immersive performances that have captivated audiences around Denver and beyond. They’ve performed at Meow Wolf Denver and other regional venues, toured throughout the U.S., and have warmed up the stage for notable electronic producers such as Satin Jackets, Random Rab, Mr. Tout le Monde, and PINES. Drawing on Miller’s extensive live experience with Lotus—including major appearances at Red Rocks, Electric Forest, Bonnaroo, and Fuji Rock—the duo delivers an engaging and polished live show that pulses with the same warmth and radiance found in their recordings.
Looking ahead, Sugar Nova is gearing up for the release of their full-length sophomore album, House of the Jaguar, slated for 2026. Building on the luminous energy of Halogen, the forthcoming record promises to expand their sonic universe—infusing deeper grooves, richer textures, and an even more cinematic vision of their signature sound.
Influenced by artists like Little Dragon, Sylvan Esso, and RÜFÜS DU SOL, Sugar Nova’s music lives at the intersection of electronic precision and emotional storytelling. With Halogen illuminating their path and House of the Jaguar on the horizon, the duo continues to craft soundscapes that invite listeners to move, dream, and drift into their sparkling sonic world.
